The 2008 SLA theme, Organize, Empower, and Elect, continues our Invest in Excellence campaign, reflecting the IEA commitment to developing and passing a funding reform plan that will help students and education employees in every part of Illinois.  IEA is your vehicle for assuming a leadership position in shaping public education.  The SLA offers training to enhance your skills in association leadership, in the classroom, on the job, and in political decision-making circles, among others.  Whatever your interests, come to the SLA.  Be a part of the proud history and the promising future of public education.
 
Keynote - Ernesto Cortes, Jr.

Ernesto Cortes, Jr. is the Southwest Regional Director of the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF), a non-profit organization founded in Chicago by the late Saul Alinsky. Cortes has received numerous awards and fellowships for his work, including most recently the H. J. Heinz Award for Public Policy and an appointment as a Martin Luther King Visiting Professor at MIT in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning.  More...

CPDU Opportunities

Help meet your requirements by earning Continuing Professional Development Units (CPDU) for many of our electives. Certificates of completion will be given after each eligible elective.
