1. Please remember that July 18th is the final deadline for SLA registration. Forms received by the IEA Program Development Department after that date will not be processed. No registration fee refunds will be provided. However, a local may substitute another person at any time for one who cancels.
2. There will be no "walk-in" registrations at the SLA.
3. All registered SLA participants will check in onsite at the Bone Student Center on the campus of Illinois State University. There you will receive your conference packets, elective session schedule, etc. Academy registration begins at 9:00 a.m. on July 30 at the Bone Student Center. The first sessions begin at 1:00 p.m. Please plan on staying at the conference until Friday at 1:00 since many excellent sessions are planned.
4. On campus housing this summer will be at Atkin/Colby. There will be regular maid service (beds will not be made if any personal items are left on the bed). Sheets, towels, washcloths and soap will be provided. Blankets will be available at dorm registration desk. Remember that the showers are communal. There is a telephone in each room. The participants must provide radios and other extras.
5. You will also need to check in at the dorm where you will receive your room key. There will be no deposit for the room key. However, if the key is not returned within 24 hours, the cost to the participant will be $30 to replace the lock. You will receive a damage report form when you check in. For your protection, please fill out the form immediately indicating any damages. Damage to the dormitory will be charged to those responsible.
6. If you choose to stay off campus this year, please make your reservations as soon as possible. Please note that each hotel has their own deadline.
7. On Tuesday, July 29th, there will be a training program for all new IEA Board of Directors members. Details will be sent to new Board members and will be posted on the IEA web site.
8. Breakfast is available free of charge at the SouthSide Café on Thursday and Friday mornings to those SLA participants staying in campus housing. The Southside Café is connected to Atkin/Colby. You will receive a meal card when you register at the dorm.
9. There is no dinner scheduled for Thursday evening. Some regions are planning a Region Night Out for their participants. Check with your region office for details. All SLA participants are welcome to all conference meals.
10. Casual clothes are recommended for all participants. PLEASE BRING A SWEATER OR JACKET. THE MEETING ROOMS WILL BE AIR-CONDITIONED and participants often report that the meeting rooms are cold but we have little control over the room temperatures.
11. Parking is provided for those participants staying in University housing. Please be sure you park only in the designated area. The University does ticket liberally. Parking is provided for participants staying in the dorms. Be sure to inquire when you check in at the dorm which lot you should park in. You must use your parking sticker (given at your dorm when you check in). If you are parking in an unauthorized lot, you will be ticketed. IEA is not responsible for any tickets received.
12. Parking is also available at the Bone Student Center (north side of building). There is a charge. It is not included in your conference registration fee.
