Invest in Excellence
For three decades, the system for funding public schools in Illinois has made winners of some children and losers of others, all based on where those students live. IEA has taken an official position in favor of changing that system and is committed to executing a plan that will accomplish that goal.
Resolution & Pledge Card Campaign
Petition for School Funding Reform
We, the undersigned, are concerned IEA and community members who urge our legislators to act now to take immediate action to reform the state’s method of funding public schools to a system that is fair, equitable, and does no harm to any school district, while providing equality of educational opportunity to every child in Illinois.
Resolution
It is crucial that your local, your school board, your city council or influential community organizations go on record with the belief that Illinois has a school funding system that is broken and needs to be fixed. We have created a non-binding resolution that can be proposed for adoption by your local or organization’s leadership and/or membership.
Press Release
Once you have signed the resolution, we have produced a press release to be sent to your local media.
Legislative Postcard Front Legislative Postcard Back
For your convenience, a postcard has been created to send to your legislator promoting the need to change the Illinois school funding system. This post card has been laid out as 4 cards per 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper with a front and back. If possible, the postcard should be printed on hot pink cardstock.
Pledge Card
We would also like a commitment of your personal investment to the IIE campaign by filling out the IIE Pledge Card. It is important to include your email address so we can contact you to assist in the implementation of your specific pledge. This pledge card has been laid out as 2 cards per 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper. If possible, the pledge card should be printed on goldenrod cardstock.
You may also obtain both pre-printed pledge cards and postcards from the IIE Resource Center by calling 217-278-7257 or 800-638-5544.
