We are educational employees located in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago.

Happy New Year and sorry for the lack of updates.
Remember to call the Palatine Office if you are planning to attend the inservice on RIF being held on February 24th.
The next meeting of the Region 34 Council will be on March 11 at 4:15 at the Palatine IEA office.
The IEA-RA Delegate Orientation meeting will take place that same evening at 6:00 p.m.

Elections for local NEA-RA delegates should be taking place today in your local buildings.
Best of luck for those running to attend the RA in Sand Diego this June/July!

Welcome back to the same old school year, but new calendar year.
And a new year brings tax returns for the last one.
Congress has extended the deduction for some of our out of pocket expenses. Check out the link
 
Reminder,
the next Region Council meeting will be Wednesday, January 28 at 4:15.  This meeting will be followed by the IEA Budget Hearing at 7:00

PALATINE OFFICE MEETING
The next one is scheduled for Wednesday, September 3rd at the Palatine IEA Office.  It will be a treasurer's and membership training.  Please make sure someone from your local attends, if you cannot.  RSVP to Sonia so we're sure to have enough food for everyone's dinner.
 
 
 
 
Your Region at Work at the IPACE Dinner
Several Region 34 members were seated with State Congresswoman Carolyn Krause at the dinner to support the Illinois Political Action Committee for Education held at the IEA Representative Assembly.  Even at dinner we were working to put forth the issues important in education!
 
 
 
 
 
IEA Malfeasance Policy
IEA has distributed a new policy to handle when there is a suspected problem with Union dollars.
 
 
 
Palatine Office Invest in Excellence MeetingOVER A HUNDRED AT BAM!!
 
Despite lousy weather, over 100 IEA members from the Palatine Office attended the February 6th meeting to hear presentations on IEA's Invest in Excellence campaign.  The main objective is to change the way Illinois funds (or doesn't fund) education in the state.
