Presented to an IEA Student Program member who is at least a junior and is a full-time student in good standing.

Presented to an IEA member who has at least 1 year of teaching experience and no more than 5 years.

The purpose of this award is to recognize an Educational Support Professional who has shown outstanding accomplishments.

The IEA is seeking nominations of members or groups of members for its annual Human Services and Civil Rights Award. If you know an IEA member or group of members deserving of recognition, please submit a nomination using the downloaded form. All locals (certified, ESP, wall-to-wall, higher education) are encouraged to apply. Deadline is January 22, 2008

The IEA-NEA has established a scholarship program that is open to all children/legal wards of current IEA-NEA members. All children/legal wards of deceased, divorced, or IEA-Retired members are eligible to apply, regardless of child’s age or marital status, as long as they plan to pursue a career in teaching. The Committee is now accepting applications to make awards for the 2008 – 2009 school year.

The Illinois Education Association is initiating a Friend of Education Award to recognize an individual who has demonstrated commitment to the success of public education and to the ideals and mission of the IEA-NEA. The deadline for submitting nominations is Feb. 1, 2008.

Presented yearly to an IEA retired member in good standing for at least 2 years who has made outstanding contributions to the IEA-NEA Retired Organization.

This is the 17th showing of the exhibit in the IEA-NEA Headquarters building in Springfield. The IEA-NEA Continuing Art Exhibit in previous years was made up of art educators (pre-KUniversity level), IEA staff, and student work. This year’s exhibit is limited to student artwork. It is the desire of the IEA to insure a rotational show that maintains a high quality of artistic accomplishment by the students of IEA members.

IEA Student Program members can apply for this education scholarship. The application, accompanied by supporting documentation, must be postmarked by March 17, 2008.

We are now beginning the process of selecting an IEA member (including teachers, education support professionals, and higher education faculty and staff) as a nominee for the annual NEA Foundation Awards for Teaching Excellence. Illinois is an educational leader and our members do exemplary work. We urge you to select an applicant, or applicants, from your region who you, your members and IEA staff feel might qualify as the Illinois nominee. Each NEA affiliate is limited to submitting just one member as a nominee.
