The IEA is your link to education jobs in Illinois.

That’s especially important right NOW!

IEA and NEA’s successful state and national lobbying efforts have resulted in passage of the Education Jobs Fund.  Congress listened and the U.S. House today authorized $10 billion in emergency funds for the Education Jobs and Medicaid Assistance Act — legislation that will speed money to states to keep teachers and support professionals working. That could mean up to 5,000 new education job openings in Illinois. Click here for more on this important victory.

Our laid-off colleagues who are looking for education jobs need our help.  In an effort to assist them in their job search, the IEA has created links to education jobs throughout Illinois.  Click here to access the job postings.

We’re committed to making sure the IEA’s links to education jobs are the most accessible and up-to-date resource for K-12 education jobs online.

Please help us notify our laid-off colleagues that this service is up and running.  They’re counting on all of us to help them return to the education workforce as quickly as possible.

Stock your classroom during the sales tax holiday

IEA knows teachers invest millions of dollars of their own money preparing their classrooms for the start of school. “What they are really doing is investing in their students,” said IEA President Ken Swanson.

So what qualifies for the sales tax holiday?

Most clothing, footwear and school supplies such as book bags, calculators, crayons, erasers, glue, lunch boxes, paper and writing utensils will be eligible for the program. Purses, jewelry, art supplies, textbooks, computers, cell phones and most sports equipment will not.

The Illinois Department of Revenue has dedicated a section of its website to listing qualifying items and to answer questions consumers might have in relation to the sales tax holiday, which ends Aug. 15. It can be viewed here.
