The SIUC Faculty Association (FA) is the organization that represents approximately 700 tenure-track and tenured Faculty in collective bargaining with Southern Illinois University. As such, it is the Faculty voice on all work-related issues. The FA was organized on the Carbondale campus in the late 1980s and won the right to represent all tenured and tenure track faculty in an election conducted by the Ilinois Educational Labor Relations Board in November 1996. It is affiliated with both the Illinois Education Association (IEA) and the National Education Association (NEA).
The first Agreement covered July 1, 1997 through June 30, 2000. The second Agreement covered July 1, 2000 through June 30, 2002. The third Agreement between the SIUC FA and the Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University covered July 1, 2002 through June 30, 2006. On Chancellor Cheng's Ultimatum
Current Contract The current collective bargaining agreement is effective July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2010 and most terms remain in effect until a new contract is negotiated.
