Letter to the 2008 Graduates from the Faculty

Dear OPRFHS Class of 2008,

We as a faculty believe that academic honesty and integrity are paramount.  And because of this the recent events at our school's Memorial Day Assembly have deeply saddened us.  We, your teachers, have worked hard to convey to you the importance of academic integrity, and we thus deeply regret that, as we send you off to the next, exciting phase of your life, the adults of this school appear to be speaking with more than one voice on this essential subject.  This is not how it should be, for in reality there is widespread agreement, both here on our campus, and across the academic universe about what constitutes intellectual integrity.   (Click on the link above to see the rest of the letter.)

African American Faculty Advisory Council
One of the most troubling problems in American education is the persistent underachievement of African-American males. While many attain high academic honors, there are others, though intellectually capable, do not succeed in school. The consequences can be devastating resulting in dropouts, unfulfilled potential, and missed opportunities. The MAC Scholars program is designed to provide students with academic support through a student centered mentor program. The program will assist each potential scholar in reaching his full human potential, academically, socially and emotionally.
