       SCHOOL CALENDAR COMMITTEE
When deciding the school calendar, the committee members take the results from the survey that the AEA members submit and create a two year proposal. The committee members then meet with ACUSD #11 Superintendent to discuss the Board of Educations' proposal and compare the differences. The committee and board/superintendent then make compromises. Some things the committee have no say over and they try to make the situation the best possible.  The Parent / Teacher Conferences is a perfect example.  The hardest thing for staff to realize is that we have to set a 185 day calendar.  Within that calendar are set holidays that have to be honored - the committee cannot just decide not to have Casmir Polaski day - the reasons are two fold. It is a paid holiday by contract for our ESP's and it would require a state waiver and public meeting to do away with this type of holiday. If you would like to be on the calendar committee, contact your building representative.
