Welcome Chicago Adjuncts

This website is designed to be home base for all information related to the wages, working conditions, and union contracts for adjunct faculty in the greater Chicagoland area. It grew out of an IEA-sponsored conference in April 2007, where adjunct faculty from all over the Chicago area gathered to discuss how they might work together across college campus lines to improve the situation for adjunct faculty as a group of several thousand educators.

Under the Banner of "Organizing For Power", adjunct faculty discussed common issues of low pay, low job security, low benefits, and low levels of respect from college administrations.

We have completed our Contract Comparisons section, which is designed for the lay person to find out how their working conditions stack up against other colleges. Be sure to check it out. Also, our College Salary Comparison tool will hopefully make it clear which are the best and worst paying colleges for your particular qualifications.

We've also just put electronic copies of some of the part-time adjunct faculty contracts. You can view them here. You can also see the complete salary schedules by clicking here. We'll add the rest of the contracts as soon as we can get copies of them.
