Early Childhood Committee

Charge:

  1. Identify needs of IEA early childhood membership to provide quality services and programs to early childhood children.
  2. Make recommendations to the new statewide conference committee regarding training needs of Early Childhood members.
  3. Make recommendations to the Director of Field Services regarding the service needs of Early Childhood members.
  4. Make recommendations to legislative platform committee regarding issues related to quality Early Childhood and Early Childhood member interests.
  5. Communicate on an ongoing basis with the president and make a year-end report.

The IEA Early Childhood Task Force wants to ensure that all early childhood students have opportunities for an excellent education.  Many of our early childhood educators are part of exceptional programs in Illinois, but unfortunately those program are not always in the spotlight.  Take a moment to watch the video below and read the article that highlights the great work being done by Kristi Adell and her group in Bensenville.

Bensenville high risk Pre-K program a big success

The Pre-K program at Tioga Elementary School in Bensenville has been around for more than two decades. Its recipe for success can be credited to many things, including a proven screening method to catch students who are most in need of the help in can provide, and a component that requires that parents be involved in their child’s education.
