IEA Recommendations to Pension Task Force

October 16, 2009 by IEA Communications

The Illinois Education Association has delivered a list of recommendations to the Pension Modernization Task Force.  The task force was created by the General Assembly during the spring legislative session and is charged with studying the pension systems with the purpose of making recommendations to the governor.

IEA, represented by Lobbyist Will Lovett, has been at the table at each of the task force meetings. Labor, government, business and annuitants have representatives at the table and each of participating groups can develop recommendations for the entire task force to consider.

The final report is expected to be complete by the first week of November.

Read the report: Pension Task Force Recommendations

Please review the documents because they will be of great value to our efforts to inform/educate members of the General Assembly that:

  • The benefits for IEA members are cost effective for the state.
  • When compared to benefits paid in neighboring states, the benefits for IEA members are well within the mainstream.
