The function of the IEA Center for Educational Innovation and its Director is to help IEA center or reenter or refocus its efforts and resources in some new directions, to assist IEA and its locals in becoming a driving force in the reform, restructuring, and reculturing of public education in Illinois. The Director works with IEA staff, leaders, and locals in helping to organize networks of school districts throughout the state. These networks bring teachers, ESPs, administrators, school board members, and parents together to work collaboratively to develop new ways to improve student learning. The Center will also work with IEA leadership to develop a new partnership among different organizations at a state level to support these networks of districts and to learn from their experiences. The Director also works with IEA in developing processes to reflect internally on our unfolding experiences with educational change and how we rethink and reinvent our roles and purposes as leaders, staff, locals, and the lEA in the light of these change efforts.
