A few hundred people who started worrying about government spending and the abuse of presidential power on January 20th, 2009, rallied near the statue of “The Great Emancipator” on the east side of the state capitol in Springfield on Wednesday. Among the noteworthy characteristics of the group was the absence of any people of color.
The group cheered as a local realtor railed against unions and “community organizers”. [video] They waved signs accusing the current President of implementing massive social change after less than three months on the job.
The point of the entire event was unclear, but a good time was had by people with nothing better to do.
