Springfield rally for Wisconsin union members

Rallies were held in state capitols nationwide on Saturday, February 26, 2011 to show support for the public employees under attack in Wisconsin and other states. The rallies were organized by MoveON.org.

In Springfield, a crowd of as many as 1,000 turned out to show their support for unions and for the right of public employees to have a voice in in their workplaces.

IEA members and staff turned out in force, with many IEA Board members on hand thanks to the already scheduled Springfield Board of Directors meeting.

IEA President Ken Swanson was among the speakers at the Springfield event and urged labor and those who support labor to “stick together.”

Been on this earth for a while and I’m telling you, Union members this is your Waterloo. I keep hearing and have heard for years how many cuts workers will have to take to keep their jobs but guess what, corporate profits keep rising.

These profits are rising on your backs and they still aren’t satisfied. Wisconsin and the Koch Brothers is one example of what allowing this bill to pass as is would do to workers and so many of them given the size of the entities they own.

    Stick together.
