San Mateo, CA, December 29, 2014 – Just like catching a last second touchdown or hitting a three pointer at the buzzer, time is running short to score a California Casualty Thomas R. Brown Athletics Grant for your public high school. Hurry, applications are due by January 15, 2015 for this current school year. Guidelines and application forms can be found at www.calcasathleticsgrant.com. More than $300,000 has been awarded since the program began three years ago. Last year, 79 public high schools from 31 states received a total of $101,000.
Grants typically range from $1,000 – $3,000. Here is a listing of Illinois recipients from the past three years:
2014 – Benton Consolidated HS & Illinois Valley Central HS
2013 – Harrisburg HS, Indian Creek HS, Mahomet Seymour HS & Sparta HS
2012 – Alton HS & Bunker Hill HS
The grant program is a tribute to Thomas R. Brown, Honorary Chairman of the California Casualty Group’s Advisory Board, an avid sportsman himself. It was created to assist public high schools negatively impacted by reduced budgets.

Applicants must be a current member (or referred by a member) of Illinois Education Association who is an active employee of the public high school for which funding is sought.
