Read Across America is here

NEA’s Read Across America campaign will showcase the Lorax book as well as NBC/Universal’s The Lorax (featuring the voices of Taylor Swift, Zach Efron, Danny Devito and Betty White). The film opens nationwide March 2, and Universal, Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Random House have joined NEA’s Read Across America, creating new posters and classroom guides for the campaign.

Make your vote count for education     

Every legislative district has changed boundaries. It’s more important than ever to become involved in the selection process. These are the people who make decisions that affect your pensions, school funding, subcontracting and more. The make your vote count for education poster is available here to download.

Plan pension meetings

With a state budget that will be very tight and with state pension policy being debated in the legislature, it’s more important than ever to schedule your face-to-face meeting with your state rep or senator. In this video IEA’s Director of Government Relations Jim Reed urges IEA members to lobby lawmakers via the IEA’s Back Home Lobby Days initiative.

The key dates lawmakers should be available in their home districts include:  March 12-16, April 2-6 and 9-13.
